  • Primary interface used for most the of AHEC
    digital librarys databases
  • Works the same for allwith some exceptions
    depending on database

Basic Search
  • Keyword/Author searching only no mapping

Whats Mapping?
  • Cross-referencing a word or phrase with the
    standard medical subject heading that best
    represents its concept.
  • Example Cancer maps to Neoplasms.
  • Medical subject headings are often called MeSH
    headings

Advanced Search
  • Maps to medical subject headings (MeSH)
  • Allows for selection of subheadings for a topic

Find Citation
  • Enter what is known about the journal article
    being sought

Using MeSH in Ovid
  • Enter the first term in the query box and click
    Search or press Enter.

  • Select the most appropriate subject heading from
    the list presented

Explode vs. Focus
  • Explode Isolates the MeSH term and all the more
    specific terms beneath on the tree
  • Focus Searches only the subject heading
    considered the articles main point.

  • Click Continue
