FUN FACTS ABOUT THE LONG-EARED JERBOA

• The Long-Eared Jerboa is currently on the
  endangered species list.

• The jerboas tail can grow up to 6.3 inches long.

• The Jerboa is nocturnal, and can be found in the
  deserts of China and Mongolia.

• The Jerboa has long back legs so it can jump over
  sand dunes in the desert.

• The soles of the Jerboas feet are covered with
  stiff hairs to help it travel on sand easier.

• The Jerboas diet mainly consists of insects that
  scurry through the desert at night.

WHY DOES THE JERBOA HAVE SUCH A LONG TAIL

• The Jerboa has such a long tail because it uses
  it as a ruder when it is jumping across the
  desert. The Jerboa also uses its tail to prop
  itself up into position before it starts to jump.

WHY ARE THE BACK LEGS LONGER THAN THE FRONT LEGS?

• The Jerboas back legs are longer because they
  mostly use their back legs to get around. Its
  front legs are smaller and are used for eating
  and landing for when it is jumping.
