• For God so loved the world that he

• God delights in giving good gifts to his
  children - Matthew 711

• Is a mark of a true disciple of Jesus Christ
• And do not forget to do good and to share with
  others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased-
  Heb.1316

The Spirit of Giving

• Is not concerned with fairness
• Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
  bless those who curse you, pray for those who
  mistreat you

• If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him
  the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do
  not stop him from taking your tunic
  - Luke 627-29

• The spirit of giving is always contingent upon
  being open to the prompting of Gods Spirit
• The spirit of giving offers the second mile
  without hesitation

The Spirit of Giving

• Holds all things loosely
• vs.30- Give to everyone who asks you, and if
  anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand
  it back

• Love always governs the spirit of giving
• He who has been stealing must steal no longer,
  but must work, doing something useful with his
  own hands, that he may have something to share
  with those in need - Ephesians 428

The Spirit of Giving

• Gives no thought to repayment or reward
• vs. 32-35- If you love those who love you, what
  credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those
  who love them. And if you do good to those who
  are good to you, what credit is that to you?

• Even 'sinners' do that. And if you lend to
  those from whom you expect repayment, what credit
  is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,'
  expecting to be repaid in full. But love your
  enemies, do good to them, and lend to them
  without expecting to get anything back

The Spirit of Giving

• Is always rewarded by God
• vs.35,38- ...love your enemies, do good to them,
  and lend to them without expecting to get
  anything back. Then your reward will be great,
  and you will be sons of the Most High, because he
  is kind to the ungrateful and wicked

• Give, and it will be given to you. A good
  measure, pressed down, shaken together and
  running over, will be poured into your lap. For
  with the measure you use, it will be measured to
  you
