MAKING THE MESS
  • The Good News
  • Princeton School District approved a plan to
    replace an old undersized, under equipped
    central kitchen from 1928 with a new state of
    the art central cooking kitchen and serving area.
  • The Bad News
  • Princeton Food Staff would continue serving 6000
    students and staff daily during demolition,
    construction and equipping of a new production
    and service area.

PLAN AHEAD
  • 1980New FSD for Princeton Schools.
  • 1982added convection ovens to 2 schools.
  • 1984-- submitted first proposal to consolidate to
    a central kitchen.
  • 1985--converted 1 cooking kitchen to satellite.
  • 1988-- converted 2nd cooking kitchen to
    satellite.
  • 1989converted 3rd cooking kitchen to satellite
  • 1991started requesting central kitchen every
    year on capitol improvement requests.
  • 1997converted 4th cooking kitchen to satellite.

  • 1998participated in district-wide facilities
    review project (20 meetings)
  • 2002participated in district-wide facilities
    review project. (Yes, AGAIN)
  • Spring 2003campaigned for bond levy passage,
    passed May 2003.
  • Fall 2003proposed central kitchen project to
    Administration.
  • Winter 2003BOE approved central kitchen project.
