• This statement is from our thoughts, hearts and
  minds to share with you.
• We want to honor all the young people for coming
  here.
• We want to recognize all of you. So that you know
  we how proud we are of you and you have our
  support.

• We want you to know how good it feels to be
  here. It is good for us to share the lessons our
  lives have taught us with you. It is our hope
  that we can together create a good future for our
  people. We believe that you are our greatest
  resource. We want to honor you for being the
  resource our communities need. We want to help
  all of you. We want to pass the torch to you
  young people. We have met together to try and
  create some solid suggestions for you.

Spiritual Foundation

• Our Ancestors followed a spiritual path that
• helped them achieve their goals. They carried
• the principles of Understanding, Trust,
  Strength, Honesty, Courage, Kindness, Truth
• In order to be successful we all need to find our
  own spiritual foundation through our ceremonies,
  by speaking learning our languages, and
  through practicing our ceremonies.

• All the teachings will help you make the
  decisions you make- the spiritual foundation has
  to be understood-its not written- Its inside of
  us.

Identity

• It is important to know your history. Learn
• who you are, learn about your homelands,
• learn the history of your family. This is what
• makes you-you.
• Stand proud, be proud of our history, and our
  ancestors struggle so we could still be here.
• Identity is the key. To build a spiritual
  foundation, we need to accept and embrace who we.
  The concept of spirituality is important facet
  of identity.

• Believe in yourself, our ways and Creator things
  will change, things will happen, just have to
  believe in our ways.

When times are tough

• We Omegomow, have learned many things
  through-out our lives to share with you so that
  you can learn from our mistakes. We are here to
  help you through the teachings, through sharing
  our stories and through conducting ceremonies. We
  feel good when we can share with you.

• Following the traditional way will teach you
  about the Creator and help you walk the right
  path. If you return to these ways you will
  receive healing you need and be strong.

Unity

• We must work together as a family rather than
  many individual nations and people to build a
  better future.
• This gathering has brought us together, now we
  are connected to each other. We need to be able
  to build and leave with a strong connection like
  a family in order to unite our people.

Spirituality is a foundation for nation building.
A spiritual foundation must accompany the
building of our nation, it is a foundation built
on spiritual principles. The trust, the honesty
and sharing will guide and support us. You must
continue to pass this message on after we are
gone.

Simple steps to be a good leader

• Be willing to work hard
• Be willing to help people
• Stand up for the people
• Help the family
• Live by example

• The Grand Chief, Chiefs,Vice Chiefs and all
  leadership should be here to listen to the young
  people It is a great dishonor to our young
  people to not participate with our young people.
• Our Leadership should be teaching the youth by
  example,

Recommendations

• Create a youth fund with AFNs Foundation
• Facilitators need to be principled and carry our
  traditions
• More Women Elders participating during the
  summit
•   Participation of Elders in sessions with the
  youth people
•   Availability of Elders to youth during the
  conference for guidance and counseling
•   Leadership should participate with the young
  people to listen, teach and show leadership to
  our young people
•   Training and building of leadership during next
  Youth Summit
•   Elders should have helpers that come with them
  to the meeting as support
•   Select Elders that participate during the
  conference and are present
