4Hypocrisy and Persecutions
While the Pharisees went to great lengths to
appear righteous because they desired the praise
of men (hypocrisy), the disciples would face a
similar but different temptation. They would
desire to avoid the anger and violence of the
crowds poured out on confessors of Christ. Just
as the Pharisees were hypocritical by attempting
to show off their righteousness, disciples of
Christ would be hypocritical by attempting to
disguise their righteousness and their
relationship to Christ in order to avoid
persecutions.

- Truth cannot be hidden (2-3).(three possible
points) - All of the sins men may commit will eventually be
revealed (1 Tim. 524-25). - The good news of the gospel will inevitably be
revealed, in spite of hypocrisy (Lk. 816-17
Matt. 1026-27). - All truth, good or evil, will be revealed, so in
essence both a and b are true.

we want to fit in we dont want to risk friendly
relationships. - In what ways can hypocrisy of this kind be like

quiet, progressive error.
