Lost and Found Process
  • Only recover items that are left _at_ the TSA
    Security Checkpoint Areas
  • When an item is found, the item is immediately
    logged in and locked up for security purposes.
  • Every morning, a lost and found representative
    picks up the lost and found items that were left
    the day before.
  • Brought back to our office to be inventoried in
    our database.

  • We only hold items in our office for 30 days.
  • We make an effort to track down a passenger for
    every item that might have personal identifiable
    information (For Example- Cell phones, laptops,
    wallets, medication, etc.)

  • RETURN MORE THAN 90 OF LAPTOPS FOUND 20/WK.
  • LOG IN APPROXIMATELY 650 ITEMS/WK.
  • HAVE RETURNED OVER 4230 ITEMS (beginning fiscal
    year to date)

Issues/Hurdles/Challenges
  • Receiving too many phone calls that are not
    supposed to be directed towards us.
    (Misconception that TSA handles ALL lost and
    found and that we are responsible for items lost
    in baggage)
  • ONLY recover items lost in TSA occupied spaces
  • If lost on planes, parking lot, gate area -WE
    WONT HAVE!!

How can we help each other provide better
customer service?
  • Updated Phone List of Lost and Found Departments
    - Lots of New Airlines
  • - Outdated numbers in
    circulation
  • Communicating Right Information If the item
    is not lost at the TSA security checkpoint, DO
    NOT refer to TSA Lost and Found.

How can we communicate better with one another?
  • Need to establish better means of communication
    between lost and found departments ? Points of
    contacts, providing each other with a
    number where we can reach a Live
    person.
  • ? Having email addresses for each
    department.
