3Spider Monkey One interesting animal in the
rainforest is the Spider Monkey. The Spider
Monkey can grow up to be two feet long. It
weighs up to fifteen pounds. It has dark and
very bright fur. Its so fast. It seems like
they fly to each tree. They are located near
Central Mexico and Bolivia. Spider Monkeys eat
fruits and seeds. They only have four fingers on
one hand. Their tails are bigger than their body.
This is one interesting animal.
4Anaconda The anaconda is an interesting rain
forest animal. The anaconda is a reptile and can
grow up to 15-30 feet long. Anacondas weigh 100
pounds. Its colors are patches of black, brown,
yellow, orange, or brown covering. It lives in
South America on the rain forest floor because it
can get food easier. The anaconda eats only meat
like small deer. Their enemies are caimans and
jaguars. Did you know that one meal can last an
anaconda a year? All of this is why I like the
anaconda.
5Caiman The Caiman is an interesting
rainforest animal This large reptile is covered
with green, brown, gray, and black scales. This
forest floor animal is from Central and South
America. It lives on the forest floor because it
cannot climb. It also lives in water and land.
It eats anything it can eat. Its enemies are
jaguars and the anaconda. Did you know every
adult caiman has its own territory? Did you
know they charge their prey to kill it? Did you
know that when they get their prey they shake it
to kill it? That is why I chose the caiman.
6Howler Monkey The monkey is 25 inches tall.
Its colors are red, brown, and black. It moves
slowly in the trees in the emergent layer. The
food it eats are plants, small animals, and bugs.
The enemies are people who cut trees down and
harpy eagles. Something about the monkey
interesting is you can hear them two miles away.
These are some things that I find about howler
monkeys that are interesting.
7Jaguar The rain forest animal I found
interesting was the jaguar. It is 1 meter and
can be all black or yellow with black spots.
Jaguars spend almost all day in water. They hunt
on land and in water. It eats more than 80 kinds
of food including cattle, deer, and monkeys.
Jaguarss enemies are only people. Usually
jaguars are not seen in daytime. They live in
the understory and forest floor. Thats why I
think jaguars are interesting animals.
8 Chimpanzee One interesting animal in the
rain forest is the chimpanzee. Some chimps are
black. Others are brown. They swing from tree to
tree, but they have to climb up first. Up in the
trees males groom each other. They have long
arms and short legs. They live in the canopy of
rain forests in Africa. Chimps love to eat
fruits, leaves, flowers, nuts, seeds, insects,
monkeys, and wild pigs. Its enemies are mostly
people and big cats. Those are some reasons I
chose a chimpanzee.
9Ocelot The ocelot is an interesting rain
forest animal. The ocelot is a cat that can grow
to be 58 inches long. The ocelot has yellow fur
and dark spots, and they have a white dot behind
the ears to tell apart. It lives in the Amazon
Rain Forest on the forest floor and understory.
It can catch its prey in 3 seconds by its good
speed and pouncing. It eats lizards, snakes,
crabs, monkeys, birds, mice, rats, fish, and
turtles. The ocelots enemies are people. It
lives to be 5-6 years old. The babies stay with
the mom for a little over a year. Kittens learn
to hunt when they are 3 months old. Thats why I
think the ocelot is interesting.
10Fruit Bat The Fruit Bat is a interesting
rain forest animal. The size is 12 in. They
have fur on their bellies and skin on their
wings. Their colors are black, brown, and gray.
They fly through the understory. Female bats
have faces that look like dogs. The male bats
look like camels. Their favorite food is fruit
and hammer heads. Their enemies are tigers They
are found in Africa. Learning about this animal
was amazing.
11Macaw The Macaw is an interesting rainforest
animal. The Macaw is a bird that is 12 to 39
inches long. Its feathers are bright red, green,
blue, gold, and yellow. It flies in the canopy
and the emergent layers. They live in Mexico and
Central America. They nest in dead trees. They
also eat nuts and seeds. Its enemies are
reptiles, climbing cats and eagles. The baby
macaws are called fledglings. They need eight
hours of attention. Hunters hunt for their
feathers. The macaw climbs trees and gets babies
out of trees. That was the interesting things I
found.
12Poison Dart Frog By Duncan Kuecker The
animal I found was a poison dart frog. It lives
in a rainforest floor. It is dangerous because
poison is on its back. It has big eyes. It likes
insects. It likes wet spots. They are 2 inches
long. I like this animal.
13Baboon The rainforest animal I found interesting
was the baboon. The baboon can grow up to 45
kilograms. It can weigh 65 to 100 pounds. It has
brownish grayish fur. Baboons use their hands
like humans. Baboons look like dogs. Baboons are
found in Africa in the canopy and understory
layers. Their enemies are lions and crocs. They
eat plants, vegetables, grass, seeds, grains,
bird eggs, honey, flowers, plants, mice, lizards,
and insects.
14Toucan The rainforest animal I found
interesting was the toucan. Toucans eat fruit,
young birds, insects, and small animals. Their
enemies are eagles, hawks, ocelots, and snakes.
Toucans are 12 to 24 inches in size. The reason
toucans live in the rainforest emergent layer is
because food and shelter are there. Some
interesting things about the toucan is they
sing, play together, and fluff .Those were some
interesting facts. I hope you enjoyed it.
15Sloth The sloth is two feet tall. It has a
brownish gray color. Sloths have some green
because algae grows on them. They are located in
South and Central America rain forest. They live
in the canopy. They eat plants, leaves, and
fruit. Their enemies are people, jaguars,
snakes, ocelots, and harpy eagles. I hope you
liked learning about the sloth as much as I did.
16Bengal Tiger The rain forest animal I find
interesting is the Bengal Tiger. It is the
biggest cat of the India rain forest . This cat
pounces, runs, and walks through the understory.
Their eye sight is six times better than ours.
They eat meat, buffalo, deer, wild pigs, and
monkeys. The tigers enemy is the porcupine.
Interesting facts are they have up to five young,
they have white spots behind their ears to
identify themselves. They only live to be ten
years old. These are some things that I found
interesting about the Bengal Tiger.
17Sloth The rain forest animal that was
interesting to me is the sloth. This mammal can
grow up to two feet. Their skin covering is gray,
brown, green, and tan fur. They swing fast on
trees but go slow on the ground. Algae grows on
their fur so they blend into the rain forest.
They live in Central and South America in the
canopy layer. They eat buds, twigs, leaves, and
plants. Their enemies are people.
18Bengal Tiger The rain forest animal I found
interesting was the Bengal Tiger. The Bengal
Tiger is a carnivore that is 3 feet tall and
weighs 350-550 pounds. The Bengal Tiger has
red-orange, black, and white fur. This cat
walks, pounces, and swims through the understory
of the rain forests of India. The Bengal Tiger
eats deer, wild pigs, and other meat. It usually
lives to be 10 years old. The tiger babies stay
with their mother until they are two or three
years old. I hope you learned about the Bengal
Tiger.
19 Macaw The macaw is an interesting rain
forest animal. This bird has brightly colored
feathers. The macaw is 12 to 52 inches tall and
it lives in Mexico, Central, and South America.
The canopy layer supplies its food such as nuts,
berries, seeds, and fruit. The macaws enemies
are reptiles, climbing cats, and eagles. The
macaws babies are called fledglings, and the
father is in charge of getting food for them.
Thats why I chose the macaw.
20Toucan The rainforest animal I found was
the toucan. This type of bird has a colorful
beak. The beak is the size of its body. The
toucan can fly and can hop a little. Toucans
live in the Andes Mountains and in South America.
They eat fruit and insects and small animals.
Their enemies are eagles and hawks and ocelots
and snakes. Another interesting thing I found
was they sing and play together. They swing and
fluff their feathers. I learned a lot about
this animal.
21Rafflesia The plant that you will be hearing
about is the Rafflesia. It is about three feet
around and is the biggest flower in the Amazon
rainforest. The Rafflesias colors are bright
and does not move and is smelly. It grows on the
rainforest floor. They live on insects and
water. Its enemies are bigger animals. I chose
this plant because it was an interesting plant.
