Title: MONEY MATTERS

1
MONEY MATTERS
  • Coffee house
  • GITC 3720/3730/3730.

2
SELECTION OF BANKS
  • The motto "location, location, location" should
    hold true with student banking.
  • The second thing you need to take into
consideration is the location of Automated Teller
Machines (ATMs) that you will use most often to
access your banking account while in school.
  • You should look for an institution that offers a
full suite of products for you to choose from,
    including checking accounts, savings accounts,
online banking accounts complete with e-bill pay
options, credit cards and student loans if that
    pertains to you.
  • Still can't make a decision about the best
student banking options for you? Then it's time
    to talk to someone.

BANKS

    centers within a 1mile radius.
  • Wachovia-Has 11 Atm location and banking centers
within a 1 mile radius. Two Atms here at the
    college.

5
Credit Card Basics
  • When you use a credit card, you are in fact
taking out a loan. Credit card companies must
make money on what they lend you therefore they
charge you interest and fees. Those are probably
the most important factors to consider when
    choosing a credit card.

6
Choosing the right credit card
  • What is the APR (Annual Percentage Rate) I will
have to pay? How long before I have to start
    paying it?
  • Is there an annual fee for the card?
  • Is there a fee for balance transfers?
  • Do I need good credit to apply? Or a cosigner?
  • Can I afford to pay more than just the minimum
    payment each month?
  • What rewards/benefits will I receive?

7
MONEY TRANSFERS
  • Western union
  • Money gram
  • Wire transfers

8
Plastic money versus cash
  • Get to know when its advantageous to use cash and
when to use debit or credit cards.
