eProtocol (animal) application

    submission, reviewing, and tracking of protocols
    for research and teaching activities involving
    live or dead vertebrate animals

Creating a protocol
  • Upon login, submitters see a home page that
    displays existing protocols associated with them
    and the protocols current status.
  • The create protocol button is used to begin a
    new protocol.

Creating a protocol - title, personnel info
  • Title information is entered
  • The personnel for the protocol are entered
  • protocol director
  • administrative contact
  • co-protocol director
  • other submitter
  • Protocol is then initially saved in system (with
    a status of in preparation) and automatically
    assigned an ID number
  • User may continue to enter information, or leave
    the system and return at a later time to continue
    with protocol entry

  • Notice the left-hand menu bar that is now

  • Information on the different species is entered
  • Questions on the use of the specified species,
    collaboration with other institutions,
    bio-hazardous agents, radiological agents,
    equipment, and toxic agents are answered

  • If there is no funding, then the NONE box must
    be checked.

    are to be used in teaching, or if the protocol is
    not part of sponsored project
  • Approval will be obtained during the
    comment/review cycle

  • Shows which sections are not yet completed
  • Provides quick links to those sections

  • Once submitted protocol cannot be edited by
    submitter it is locked
  • Panel manager assigns protocol to reviewers
  • Once all comments from reviewers are collected,
    protocol is returned back to submitter with
    comments from reviewers
  • Submitter can then respond to comments and edit
    protocol when appropriate
