Aims Objectives

• To identify key attainments and personal
  characteristics
• To gain understanding of how these form the basis
  of my personal educational and vocational
  development and explore future goals based on
  prior attainments
• To consider my study skills and how to develop
  them

My Wheel of Fortune

• Consider the ideas of the wheel of fortune, - my
  attainments and characteristics.
• It gives a visual presentation of my shape
• It also gives a way of considering me in relation
  to others and how I might look at the matching
  process with future HE and Careers
• Using a blank wheel of fortune, produce your own
  shape

Getting feedback

• With a friend check out the shape you have drawn
  and compare theirs
• Does the picture give you any clues about
  strengths and areas for development
• Does the picture give any insights into future
  career families (science technology/arts/busines
  s etc)

• The following list shows some well known study

• Time management, Information Skills,
  Communication skills, Memory Improvement, Problem
  solving, Decision Making
• What skills do you use at present to complete
  your learning assignments? (use the study skills
  checklist to see)
• What skills are you seeking to improve?

Study Skills Materials

• All schools and college have resources for
  developing skills for study. Some use printed
  handbooks some offer support sessions. (example
  of a handbook)
• In addition there are many web sites you can use.
  eg (support4learning) (MindTools)
• Visit these sites and take charge of your skills
  development.
