Who, What, Where?

• This was when the Japan took over Korea.
• Although the Americans helped the Koreans, it was
  mainly between the Koreans and the Japanese.
• This lasted for 35 years (1910-1945)

Why?

• This all began when the Korean empress, Empress
  Myeongseong was killed by Japanese agents.
• This happened because the Japanese wanted more
  land so they started by assassinating the rulers
  of Korea.

Conditions?

• This most likely happened because Korea was not
  as strong as it could have been.
• Korea was not expecting this so they did not
  prepare for anything.
• Japan planned for a long time so they had all of
  the weapons and materials needed to overtake a
  country.

Conditions continued

• This would not have happened if Korea did not
  have valuable and good land that Japan wanted.

What happened?

• The Japanese made all of the Koreans forget about
  their culture and gave them Japanese names, made
  everyone speak only Japanese.
• Koreans were given all of the hard work.
• Korean women were comfort women to the Japanese
  military men.
• 40,000 Korean were killed by the bombs in
  Hiroshima and Nagasaki and 30,000 was open to the
  bomb radiation.
• They were there because they were forced to work
  in military industrial factories.
• The Koreans were persecuted.

The leader

• The leader that was responsible for this was
  Emperor Hirohito Showa.

Ending?

• Japan gave up when the Americans came and bombed
  Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the World War II.
• The Japanese evacuated Korea right after that.

Famous Person
Yu Gwan Sun was a teenager who went out and
yelled out Japan is bad! Freedom in
Korea! She was caught by the Japanese soldiers
and was killed.

What is it now?

• Japan It is a monarchy. It has a prime
  minister.
• Korea Three years after Japan left Korea, it
  split into North Korea and South Korea. North is
  communist and South is a democracy.
