Where we are today with Logistics HCS
  • Phases 1 and 2 of logistics HCS complete
  • Involved creating 4 workforce categories and
    common level of understanding across
    services/agencies
  • Translated categories into related competencies
    further defined proficiencies needed to attain
    various levels of expertise (1-entry 5-expert)
  • Phase 3 in work
  • Identifying training, education and career
    development activities needed to achieve
    proficiency in each of the 4 categories
  • Phase 4 will involve creating Logistics Career
    Development Framework documents to aid employees
    and managers in career planning (completion FY10)

AF Application/where we are going
  • AF contributed greatly to joint development of
    category, competency, and proficiency data
  • Provided SMEs for each of the 4 categories for
    initial and ongoing activity
  • AF will participate in pilot of the LCDF
  • Negotiating now for volunteer group
  • Once purple group has completed the overarching
    structure, all services/agencies can adapt to
    individual needs
  • Will continue to include the SMEs in this process

  • Provide a cross-flow of experience between
    operational commands and AFMC
  • Enlarge the pool of mission ready civilians with
    significant experience in both operational combat
    support and wholesale business logistics

    that allows them to share their experience while
    gaining new experiences in a different work
    environment
