About Distance Learning at ODU
  • Old Dominion University is one of the largest
    providers of distance learning degree programs in

Lower Level General Education Departmental
Requirements
  • General education can be met with the completion
    of an Associates in Arts and Science OR
    Associates of Science from PVCC (General Studies,
    Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Education
    and/or Science).
  • Students who complete an Associates in Applied
    Science must meet Old Dominion Universitys
    general education requirements and any
    departmental requirements in a course-by-course
    manner.
  • Foreign language is required for general
    education. This requirement can be met by
  • - completion of AAS program
  • - two semesters of foreign language courses at
    college level
  • - graduation from high school prior to 1986
  • - completion of three years of a single language
    in high school or two years
  • of two different languages in high school

Undergraduate Transfer Admission Requirements
  • Completion of an Associates degree recommended.
    A minimum of 24 credit hours of transferable
    coursework must be completed before applying for
    admission to ODU
  • Minimum GPA of 2.2 required for admission to Old
    Dominion University (2.8 is required for
    admission to the teacher preparation program)
  • IMMEDIATE ON SITE ADMISSION AVAILABLE!

Application Process
  • Submit a Distance Learning Application for
    Undergraduate Admission
  • Submit official transcripts from all
    colleges/universities attended
  • Submit 40 non-refundable application fee (check
    or money order)
  • - students, who are receiving financial aid from
    PVCC at the time they apply for admission to ODU,
    may request a Fee Waiver from the PVCC Office of
    Financial Aid
  • Submit additional information as needed
    supplemental applications, licensure,
    documentation of prior suspensions, high school
    transcripts, etc.
  • All paperwork should be submitted to the ODU Site
    Office located in room 403, ODU building.

Financial Aid
  • Students pursuing a degree through Old Dominion
    Universitys Distance Learning program are
    eligible to apply for financial aid.
  • As with traditional programs, financial aid is
    awarded based on need.
  • ODU will package students for any federal and
    state grants that they are qualified for AND will
    package students for student loans.
  • To apply for financial aid, students must
    complete the Free Application for Federal Student
    Aid (FAFSA)
  • Apply online at http//www.fafsa.ed.gov
