14Policy Issues To Remember
15Milk will now be fat specific.
- Whole milk only to children 1 through 23 months
of age - 2, 1, or skim milk only to children 2 years of
age and older and all women - Exception can receive whole milk with medical
documentation and receiving formula - These rules apply to all milk substitutes as well
such as lactose free/reduced milk, evaporated
milk, etc.
16Cheese Only 1 Pound Allowed
- Cheese can be substituted for 3 quarts of milk
with a maximum of 1 pound substituted. - Additional cheese can be substituted with medical
documentation.
17All participants will be offered the max package.
- There will be no more standard and max packages
for each participant type. - Documentation must be completed if less than the
max package is provided. Package Comments link
on Food Package tab in WICnet. - Reasons to document include
- Not issuing a food item
- Reducing the amount of a food item (ex. baby
food) - Breastfeeding assessments 1 can during the
first month - Still very important to review food usage at each
appointment

- Juice frozen or plastic containers
- 1 of each could be an option for children
- Cheese 1 pound maximum substitution
- Soy Milk full fluid milk amount
- Women - without medical documentation
- Children only with medical documentation
- Whole Grains bread, tortillas, rice
- Beans dry or canned
- Canned Fish tuna or pink salmon (2 sizes)
- Baby Food jars or plastic
