• GHB is consumed orally in capsule form or as a
  grainy, white to sandy-colored powder.
• Powdered GHB is often dissolved in liquids like
  water or alcoholic beverages and then consumed.
• Sold as a slightly salty,clear liquid in small
  bottle where users pay by the capful or by the
  teaspoon.
• Also used as a sedative to come down off
  stimulants like Ecstasy and cocaine.

Where did it come from?

• In 1961, the drug GHB was made by French
  researcher Dr. Henri Laborit.
• It was used in France as an anesthetic and
  hypnotic for humans.

• In the 1980s, it ran the body building circuit
  due to the synthetic steroid effect it has on the
  body.
• In 1990, GHB was banned for human consumption by
  the FDA.

• The base compound of this substance is gamma
  butyrolatone.
• This can be found in floor stripper, nail polish
  remover, and super glue remover.
• When mixed with lye found in such household
  products as drain cleaner, a chemical reaction
  ensues causing the production of GHB.

• GHB is a naturally occurring substance in the
  body. It is produced in small quantities in the
  kidneys, heart, and thats right, brown fat
  cells.
• GHB has four basic forms Liquid, white powder,
  capsules, and tablets.
• The white powder resembles sugar and the liquid
  is fairly clear and a little thicker than water.
• The average price for one dose is between five
  and ten dollars.

The Effects

• The effects of GHB are affected, by ones body
  weight, interaction with other chemicals, and

• Produces intoxication followed by deep sedation.
• Takes 15-60 minutes to take effect.
• GHB can cause nausea, vomiting, delusions,
  depression, vertigo, loss of vision, seizures,
  respiratory distress, loss of consciousness,
  amnesia, and coma.
• When combined with alcohol the potential for
  deadly overdose escalates.
