PEER TUTORING PROGRAM

• Assisting students who need additional support
  in developing their numeracy skills

Why have this program?

• It will provide Year 8 students with a tutor to
  help them to improve their numeracy skills.

Who will be tutoring?

• Year 8 Tutors are very able mathematics
  students from years 10-12.
• They will be providing one on one mathematics
  tuition for any year 8 student needing extra
  assistance with their Maths.

How will it work?

• A booking sheet will be placed on the Year 8
  Centre noticeboard every Friday, commencing on
  Friday 17th August, for students to book a tutor.
  
• As there will be a limited number of tutors
  available, assistance will be provided on a first
  come first serve basis.

Benefits of Peer tutoring

• Tutees (students being tutored) will
• feel more confident about their mathematical
  abilities.
• be given individual attention provided outside
  class time and will not need to pay for private
  tuition classes.
• develop further their communication skills, self
  esteem and personal satisfaction.

• A record of attendance will also be kept so that
  Year 8 students could then accumulate points
  towards their Skills Awards.
• Bronze Certificate 10 attendances
• Silver Certificate20 attendances
• Gold Certificate..30 attendances
• Trophy.40 attendances

When will this program start?

• The Peer Tutoring Program will take place, on a
  trial basis, every Tuesday lunchtime (12.55-1.40)
  in room P001 starting on Tuesday 21st August.
