  (possibly) the period of the show
• help define the characters more by showing where
  and when the characters might have lived

  information found in the script

• Stay within the budgets allowed for money, time,
  space, and the skills of the laborers who will
  build the scenery
• be lightweight for the sake of those who will be
  moving the set during the performance
• be safe to use
• have a purposehave necessity for being on the
  stage

• be accommodating to the actions of the play. The
  set should not take away from or inhibit the
  action of the play
