Its Your Move is a unique project run by
Broadway, aimed at helping people successfully
negotiate the journey from Supported to more
independent living.
The project started in 2000 and came about as a
result of an Influential report which revealed
that 1 in 5 tenancies, held by former rough
sleepers, ended in failure within the first year.

Rather than just being a training provider, what
Broadway does is
- Tailor a set of resources to the specific needs
of a local authority.
- Train the trainers to deliver the agreed
training modules.
- Assist with the pilot scheme, typically over a 6
month period.
- Assist with the evaluation at the end of the
pilot and make - recommendations for the future training courses.
The aim is to leave the local authority
partners equipped to run these courses by
themselves.

The cost relates to the number of modules to be
provided and the duration of the pilot
After reviewing the options we have decided to
initially pilot 8 modules and retain the 6 month
duration.
This keeps the cost down (circa 16.5k), and
spreading the pilot over 6 months takes some
pressure off the trainers and spreads the time
required by each participant / organisation.
This is the same model which has been implemented
successfully by Leicester City Council its
Partners

Whilst the council has been able to secure
funding for the main project costs from a
combination of the CLG Homelessness grant and
Supporting People funding, we require assistance
from some of our key partners in terms of staff
time to be trained and in turn deliver the
training.
To sustain a programme of 8 training modules the
recommendation is that we require 16 volunteers
to be trained and to deliver training.
Wed like this to be resourced on a 50 50 basis
from the local authority and from partners

This means that each staff member taking part
would need to dedicate 8 working days over the
period of the 6 month pilot.
The intention would be to deliver an ongoing
programme of courses, after the pilot, utilising
both LCC premises and partners. All courses would
be open to all service users.
With this arrangement we would have 2 trainers
able to deliver each module, so staff time
required on an ongoing basis would be minimal.
Wed propose using the newly funded Meaningful
Activities co-ordinator post / s to maintain the
organisation of follow on courses after the
pilot.
