The Success Of Our Last Campaign
Mrs. Campbells 5th Grade Science Class
WE LOVE OUR NEW SCIENCE LAB!!!
5This year the Annual Campaign For Our Students is
focusing on one of the objectives of the St.
Stephen School Strategic Plan
Improve and advance the curriculum, including
technology, to better prepare students for higher
education.
6Use Inspiration software to organize my social
studies project.
E-mail the author of our story for writing tips.
Some of the Ways We Already Integrate Technology
Search the Internet for background information
for the novel we are reading.
Visit our math textbook web site to review for my
test.
Use PowerPoint to create a slide show to explain
how to solve a math word problem.
7We feel the following changes are necessary to
further develop technology curriculum integration
to benefit our students
- New Computer Lab Layout/Desks
- Hardware/Wiring Upgrades
- Software Upgrades
- Additional Part-time Technology Teacher
8New Computer Lab Layout/Desks
9Let Us Go Back To Fall 2000 .
The Computer Lab Was Brand New!
There Were 18 Student PCs At 3 Hexagonal Tables
A Full Class Of 32 Or So Students Shared PCs
10In Fall 2002, We Added 2½ Hexagonal Tables And
14 PCs To Accommodate A Full Class Of 32 Students
So There Were 32 New Student PCs At 5½ Hexagonal
Tables -And A Lot Less Space To Move Around!
11Navigating Around Those 5½ Hexagonal Tables And
32 Chairs When 32 Students Are Working Is A
Safety Issue!
Help!! I cant get through!

14Hardware/Wiring Updates
15- The Internet cable was installed nearly 8 years
ago in the portable building. - It is difficult for a whole class to access the
same Internet sites or files on our server and
there are days when we have sporadic Internet
connectivity. - The main school building was recently rewired
with fiber optic cable.
16- Only 18 of the 32 PCs are capable of running
Microsoft Vista/Office 2007 which many families
will or already have at home on their newer PCs - New PCs would take up much less space on the
computer desks and give students more room to
work
1734 New Dell Optiplex PCs with Flat Panel Monitors
and Fiber Optic Cable
18Software Updates
19- Many high schools are already using Microsoft
Vista Operating System and Microsoft Office 2007. - Families who have purchased new PCs recently or
will be purchasing new PCs will be using
Microsoft Vista and Office 2007. - We can best help our students in technology by
instructing them with the latest software.
20New PCs with Microsoft Vista/Office 2007 and
software licenses for the 18 existing Vista
capable PCs that will be moved into our classrooms
21We are hoping to raise approximately 60,000 to
70,000 to finance our technology curriculum
upgrades.
22Thank You!
