Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William
Herschel, a British astronomer. Astronomers sent
Voyager 2 space probe to Uranus and the other
outer planets in 1977. Uranus was named after the
Roman god who was father of Saturn and
grandfather of Jupiter.
Uranuss symbol is the sign for metal platinum.

most unusual orbital characteristics in the solar
system. The gravity is 0.9. One of Uranuss moons
is Miranda. This planet is made out of ridges and
valleys. The large scarps on Mirandas ridges are
taller than the walls on the Grand Canyon.
