What is the devil

• The devil is seen in many cultures as a figure of
  bad luck or part of a conscience that is evil.
• some cultures worship him (Satanists) as they
  believe he will be merciful, others live in fear
  of him their whole lives.
• He is generally a mythical creature in Greek
  tales and stories past on through the ages.

His role in Blood Brothers

• The devil is the symbol of worry in blood
  brothers and is a reminder of the sins and crimes
  that people have committed (just like Marilyn
  Monroe is a symbol of good times and fortune).
• The devil is almost like the conscience of Mrs.
  Lyons as the devil appears (played by narrator)
  singing the devil song.

Where the song changes and why?

• The first time the song changes is when Mrs.
  Lyons moved to the country-side, which is closer
  to her. It changes to
• The devils moved in down the street from you
• This is said because the devil is hinted as
  being Mickey.

Where the song changes (Part 2)

• The second and final time that the song changes
  is at the end, just before Mickey is about to
  kill Edward!
• Here it changes to
• He is calling up your number TODAY
• This changes because the whole play has been
  leading up to this and it is happening TODAY.

• Where Mrs. Lyons says about twins secretly
  parted.
• When Mrs. Lyons is searching for Edward whilst
  Edward is with Mickey.
• When Mrs. Lyons says about moving away because of
  Mickey.
• When Mrs. Lyons accuses Edward about the locket.

• When Mrs. Lyons discovers about Mickey moving to
  the country side which is closer to her.
• At the very end when Mickey goes to the town hall
  to kill his unknown brother, Edward.

Conclusion

• In conclusion, we have found out the devil
  appears where MRS LYONS is sad and worried about
  Edward being with Mickey. It is almost like
  Mickey being the devil, who in the end will kill
  Edward and the devil is warning Mrs Lyons to not
  let Edward with Mickey.
