City of Pontiac Promise Zone Rummage Sale

The NEW Pontiac Regional Chamber is teaming up
with the Greater Pontiac Community Coalition and
the POH Riley Foundation to help raise funds for
the Pontiac Promise Zone Scholarship Fund by
hosting a city-wide Rummage Sale on Friday
October 16th and Saturday October 17th. Sunday,
October 18th is optional. City of Pontiac
residents, local churches, and businesses are
invited to help make this successful.
HOW IT WORKS!
What is the Promise Zone?
CHURCHES Can Participate By
It is an opportunity for all City of Pontiac
graduating students to attend college at no
charge. January 2009 Governor Granholm has
signed legislation creating local authorities
that would pay the full cost for college tuition
to resident students. The City of Pontiac has
been identified as a Promise Zone location and
needs to raise 750,000 in order to send all
students in the district to college.

• Educating their parish about the Promise Zone
• Promote and encourage residents of their parish
  to host their own rummage sale Friday-Sunday
  October 16-18th. Hours of Operation Fri/Sat 8
  a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday 1-5 p.m.
• -Promote by making announcements during
  services, church
• newsletter, website,
  etc.
• Drive registration to the Pontiac Regional
  Chambers website to register at
  www.pontiacchamber.com Click City-Wide Rummage
  Sale
• Register at www.pontiacchamber.com (see above)
• Make Donation to Pontiac Regional Chamber on
  behalf of Promise Zone
• Drop your donation at the Pontiac Regional
  Chamber office on Monday,
• October 19, 2009 from 9am-7pm. Make Checks
  payable Pontiac
• Regional Chamber-The Promise Zone will send
  letter for tax purposes.

Pontiac Regional Chamber (PRC) Is Responsible For
Rummage Sale Hours of Operation Friday Saturday
800 a.m.-500 p.m. Sunday 100 p.m.-300 p.m.
Residents Businesses Can Participate By

• Distribute How-To Tips for a successful rummage
  sale
• Promote City-Wide Rummage Sale via local media
• Generate web page for residents to register and
  list goods for sale
• Distribute a list of addresses to general public
• Create and distribute signage throughout City of
  Pontiac
• Collect funds from participating residents on
  10/19/09
• Issue 100 Vouchers for Free Groceries to all
  residents that make a donation
• Issue check to the POH Riley Foundation on behalf
  of the Promise Zone (They will issue a letter of
  donation to participants for tax purposes)
• Present check during the Celebrate Pontiac
  Pontiac Regional Chamber Annual Event, Thursday,
  October 29, 2009 from 1030 a.m.-130 p.m.
• Note 80 of proceeds benefit Promise Zone, 20
  PRC
