Yesterday
  • Williams Township School opened in 1936, teachers
taught children through the eighth grade. Each
year a grade was added. The first graduating
class consisted of 21 students. The last class
to graduate from Williams Township School was in
1992, when South Columbus High School opened its
    doors.

Tomorrow
  • And the sun came up on Tuesday
  • Education is all about planting a seed in the
mind of a child and Aggies are good at planting
seeds. Even before the sun came up above the
flames and smoke Tuesday morning, these people
were planning to till the land on which this
building stood and plant seeds for a new
schoolhouse, and like the children in their
charge, they will help it grow and care for it
    all their lives.

Spirit
  • Its not the building, its the people

Those are the words of wisdom from a second
graderPeople in the Williams Township area are
rightfully proud of their school. When people
think of the Williams Township community, the
school is the first thing that comes to mind.
The school is a perpetual high performer,
discipline problems are rare, parental
involvement is high, and the staff is tight. It
represents everything good about old-style rural
community schools, which are becoming
increasingly rare in America Yet, most of
whats lost is the building and a lot of
memories. Time marches on and things change.
There will be a lot of tears shed this weekend
when a wrecking ball tears down the last vestiges
of the building where teachers educated
generations of Williams Township students. The
people will remain, though, which will serve as
the strongest foundation for the new school.
