When called out

• Decide whether you have time to do an assessment
  before you go
• Your safety comes first. Dont rush. Check tides.
  If you have any problems, cancel the assessment
• Ask the hotline coordinator to send another
  volunteer if possible
• An assessment can take an hour if youre working
  alone
• Working with other volunteers makes recording
  much easier

Be prepared!

• Take the following kit
• digital camera(minimum 4 megapixels)
• water carrier
• tape measure
• HS kit gloves, mask, wipes, etc.
• BEEP Reference Manual
• BEEP Recording Form standard recording form
• clip board clear plastic bag!

Important tips

• Follow the Reference Manual for consistency
• Wash the sand off first- reveals vital marks
• Remove seaweed ordebris but dont washoff
  net/twine

Working method

• Set camera to create highest resolution jpeg
  files
• Include a rule in close-up pictures
• Take some wet, some dry shots
• Take with and without flash
• Take as many as youneed to ensure sharpfocus

• Work methodically
• Ensure you take all angles required the last
  page of the Reference Manual lists all required
  photos
• Beware of close-ups being out of focuszoom in
  or use amacro feature
• Give a point of referencefor features

• Send recording forms and photos (full size -
  dont reduce) to us using any of the following
• CD or DVD (to the address in the BEEP
  Introduction)
• Email to records_at_cwtstrandings.org
• Fax to 07092 162172
