11A Test A 20th century book about the 19th
century VS 21st century technology!
12I am writing a novel about a nurse during a flu
epidemic of 1882 and I am not sure what she would
wear. When were traditional nurses caps and
striped blouses introduced?
13- I spent 15 minutes searching on the internet and
had no luck. I found the history of Canadian
uniforms, army nurse uniforms, a history of
nurses clothing in TV and movies and time line of
clothing that detailed Florence Nightingale in
the Crimean , but nothing about what a nurse
would look like in 1880. - The American Association of Nurses web site
provided many links, but none gave me the
information I wanted. - A librarian at the Sammamish library suggested
some books on costuming and the Time-Life Decades
series, where I found army nurse uniforms. - Bummer!a term by the way that originated in San
Francisco in 185.
14Soin this case, I would have to say that the
book wins. In the book I found that the
traditional nurses cap and blouse with stripes
was introduced in 1876 and widely used until the
first world war.
15Hey, friend, do get the feeling that the world
is all messed up and utterly defeated? If you

the slang language of the 1800s!
