Title: Yes Tak Da
1Yes! Tak! Da!
Introducing the 2005/6 Project for PCI Sunday
Schools, Bible Classes and Youth groups
2In November 1989 communism collapsed in the
Soviet Union 15 republics embraced democracy, and
opened their doors to the west Christians
welcomed a new era of freedom to worship A new
generation emerged that had never known
oppression like their parents
3What is Yes! Tak! Da! about?
- Its about helping children and young people in
Russia and Ukraine say Yes to Jesus
4Who will benefit from the project in Russia?
- In Russia, the project aims to support street
children living in St Petersburg.
520,000 children live rough on the streets of the
city - taking shelter in stair wells and cellars
during the winter when the temperature can drop
to -35 degrees Celsius. Most become involved in
drug abuse and prostitution. Some are HIV.
6Our vision is to create a Centre close to St
Petersburg that will be a safe place for kids to
come - where they can stay warm, eat good food,
hear about Jesus and ultimately escape from the
dangers of their lives on the street. At an SU
camp in January 2006, 5 young people decided to
follow Jesus and leave the streets behind.
7Who will benefit from the project in Ukraine?
- In Ukraine, thousands of children come to the SU
campsite at Vorzel each year.
8- We plan to help build a sports hall so that they
can play games like badminton and five-a-side
football, especially in winter when its cold
outside.
9The children of Ukraine and Russia say to their
new friends in the Presbyterian Church in
Ireland, Thank you for helping us say Yes! Tak!
Da! to Jesus!
10In August 2006, a camp team of young people from
the Presbyterian Church in Ireland will go to
Vorzel in Ukraine.
11We hope there might be another team going in 2007.
12Lets pray for our partnership with young
Christians in Ukraine and Russia, as we grow in
faith together.
