MMT Mission
MMT safely introduces cadets to the equipment,
tactics, and challenges of the heavy combined
arms team during 2nd detail CFT, in order to
inspire cadets about the profession of arms and
provide a basis for understanding the employment
of heavy forces on future battlefields

Intent

• Expose cadets to the way the heavy forces
  contribute to the close fight
• Develop leadership
• Showcase the use of simulations as an aid for
• training crews and teams
• Familiarize cadets with the basic TTPs of the
  heavy

• Demonstrate the use of rehearsals and AARs in

• Expose third class cadets to a first class Army

• Use the Stinger Troop Proficiency Trainer (STPT)

• Introduction to the HIMAD platoon leader
• Orientation on the Patriot minimum engagement
  package (MEP) Big Four (Antenna Mast Group,
  Engagement Control Station, Radar, and Launcher
  section)
• Conduct Reload of the Patriot launcher

Tasks Cavalry Weapons

• Introduction to the Scout Platoon Leader
• Orientation on the M3 series Cavalry Fighting
  Vehicle
• Fire M242 25mm chain gun on the M3 series
  Cavalry Fighting Vehicle
• Conduct operational tasks (clear, disassembly,
  assembly, functions check, load) on the M240B
  and M2 HB machine guns, and the Mk19 automatic
  grenade launcher
• Fire the M240B and M2 HB machine guns, and the
  Mk19 automatic grenade launcher from a stationary
  M1025/M1026 scout HMMWV
• Use the MELIOS to acquire targets
• Conduct RS planning in the offense and defense

Tasks Tank Live Fire

• Observe demonstration of the lethality of a tank
  platoon in battle
• Conduct familiarization on tank ammunition
• Fire the main gun and coaxial mounted M240C
  machine gun and M2 HB machine gun on the M1
  series main battle tank
• Conduct familiarization on Armored Fighting
  Vehicle Identification (AFVID)
• Conduct M9 pistol familiarization using the
  BEAMHIT trainer
• Negotiate an improvised explosive device (IED)
  lane

Tasks Thunderbolt Strike

• All cadets conduct enabling training using
  simulations
• Driver proficiency training using the Tank
  Driver Simulator (TDS)
• Crew gunnery proficiency training using the Unit
  Conduct of Fire Trainer (UCOFT)
• Troop Leading Procedures and mission rehearsals
  using SIMNET
• Conduct Troop Leading Procedures for a mounted
  Attack/Defend mission
• Using vehicular mounted MILES equipment, conduct
  a heavy force-on-force exercise between attacking
  and defending opposing forces
• Conduct a formal After Action Review (AAR) to
  reinforce training objectives

• Introduction to military operations in urban
  terrain (MOUT)
• Familiarize cadets with offensive and defensive
  planning for urban warfare
• Conduct dynamic entry and room clearing of a
  defended facility (Battle Drill 6A)
