?National Delta Tau Alpha newsletter ? January
2005?
Meet your National Parliamentarian
My Granny and Grandpa Kroll lived there on a
small amount of acreage, in a tiny wood framed
house, that rested on blocks. Throughout the
house permeated the scent of homemade bread,
kolaches, and polish sausage. They always had a
huge garden. I would help Grandpa pick squash,
tomatoes and okra. The land was scattered with
peach and pecan trees. I would help my Granny
fill grocery sacks full of pecans in the fall,
and peaches in the spring. My great-grandparents
neighbors had cattle, hogs and chickens. I
would wander over and stare in awe of the
majestic animals grazing in the green pastures.
I always wanted farm animals of my own, so when I
reached high school, I enrolled in agriculture
science classes. I subsequently joined the 4-H
and FFA clubs. I talked my parents into letting
me raise various livestock projects. Cattle were
and still are my favorite. I love
agriculture, and the country way of life. I was
truly blessed to have the experiences I shared
with my family. Those experiences helped shape
who I am, and how I choose to live my life. That
is why when I decided to attend college, I chose
Agriculture Business/Animal Science to study.
For me, agriculture is a way of life. I am proud
to be an Agriculture Science student, and a
member of DTA. This has given me the opportunity
to work with the finest individuals in the
agriculture sector. I look forward to a
wonderful year in DTA, and an awesome senior year!
Howdy from Texas! My name is Jacki Brossman,
from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville,
Texas. I am excited to be your new 2004-2005 DTA
National Council Parliamentarian! I am a native
Texan. I grew up in Spring, Texas, which is a
suburb north of Houston. I am the oldest of 3
children. I have a younger sister, Vanessa who
is 20, and a younger brother, Craig who is 19.
All 3 of us attend SHSU. My sister and I are Ag
majors and my brother is a Technical Theater
major. My love of agriculture began with my
early childhood experiences with my family. I
grew up going to see my great-grandparents that
lived in the country. They lived in the small
(heavily Polish influenced) town of Anderson,
Texas. This town is so small that it doesnt
have a stop light, or even one of those flashing
yellow lights at an intersection. Andersons
only claim to fame is that it holds the county
seat for Grimes County, and that the infamous duo
Bonnie Clyde stayed there over night in the
towns one hotel, the Fanthorp Inn. But, I
absolutely adore this town. I love this place
more than anywhere else in the world. It holds
the best memories, and it feels more like home to
me than home does.
