2Global Preferences must be completed at the data
station. Change local default preferences at the
data station too. Plain Local (without global
default) affect the computer you are working on
only. That is why you should set the local
default preferences at the data station. You
will have all computers set the same way if you
set the local default at the data station.
3Go to File, then scroll down to Import.
4Click on Patron Settings tab. Make any
adjustments as necessary.
5Note under Global Settings, check Archive
First. Leave all other information at default.
Notice icon with sign on bottom left. Click
on this to select patron download file.
6You should have saved the patron download file
Sylvia Muraida sent you to either your Desktop or
a folder in My Documents. Either is fine, so
long as you can find it. I recommend the Desktop.
7Highlight the file and click on it OR
double-click on it and it will pop into the
Filename space, then click Open.
8The file will now show in the large window and be
highlighted with a black bar.
9Locate the Green Arrow Play button on the bottom
right side of the screen and click on it to begin
the import.
10A pop-up window will ask if this is Patron or
Item data. Select Patron.
11The Field Mapping screen will come open. Note
the arrangement of the data on the left and the
assigned fields on the right. If everything is
matched correctly, then click on the OK button.
12The Data Import will begin. Notice the gray bar
under the task toolbar as the number of records
are imported.
13If you minimize the import screen, you will
notice the patrons being imported on the
Transaction Log of the Circulation Screen.
14When the import is complete, a message window
will appear, Finished Import. Click OK.
15At the Circulation screen, go to SHOW, scroll
down to Patrons and you will see this screen.
Check to see that the information is in the
correct location.
16If you have to re-do the process
- You will need a back up of your data folder.
- If you dont have a back up, use the last ARCHIVE
you created at the beginning of the whole
process. You will find it in the ARCHIVE folder
labeled Archive2004date time code. - Please call Alexandria, 1-800-347-4249, if you
need assistance.
