2Objective
- Develop a value-added tool that provides a
transparent, integrated capability of computing
aviation environmental impacts and - identifying interrelationships between noise and
emissions and amongst emissions at - the aircraft, local, regional, and global levels
- and
- includes costs and benefits
- to inform environmental policy
3Motivation for Integrated Aviation Environmental
Analyses
- Great progress reducing environmental impact of
aviation - Despite interrelationships, noise and emissions
viewed and addressed as separate discipline - Delivering continued reductions in noise and
emissions necessitates an interdisciplinary
approach - Economic considerations are vital to a robust
analysis - Interrelationships are complex and multifaceted,
and cannot be analyzed simply with current
individual tools as they exist today
Need a comprehensive toolset for analyzing
interdependencies between aviation-related noise
and emissions, as well as ability to perform
cost-benefit analyses to inform decision makers
