What is a woodland?

• A woodland is much more than just a bunch of
  trees! It includes all the animals, insects and
  birds that live there. As we will see, they all
  depend on each other.

Lets look at the trees!

• There are 3 main types of tree -
• Conifer
• Palm
• Broad - Leafed
• Well learn about them all!

Woodland Animals

• Lots of different animals live in the woodland -
• Animals that live under the ground
• Animals that live on the ground
• Animals that live in the trees.

Insects and Birds

• Mini-Beasts love to crawl around on the woodland
  ground.
• Spiders spin webs in trees, and ants and beetles
  love the leaves on the ground.
• Birds use the trees to rest in, nest in and to
  give them nuts and seeds to eat.

Woodlands are Fun!

• Over the next few weeks we will -
• Use information books to research woodlands
• Visit a woodland to see for ourselves
• Listen to stories and poems about woodlands
• Enjoy ourselves!
