    technologies), ICT (software),Innovative
    Logistics
  • To expand the membership to other regions in the
Baltic Sea area (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania,
    Poland)
  • the ultimate goal is to have a well functioning
    inter-connected regional innovation support
system linking the Baltic Sea region as a whole

Regional Brain Gain Project
  • The ambition To understand if there is a
difference in the value pattern of individual
knowledge holders in Estonia compared with
researched knowledge holders in Finland (Capital
    region, Tampere region, Oulu region)
  • The suggested project outline
  • Initial desk research
  • Quantitative survey of the target individuals (a
    large enough sample to generate 1 000 1 500
    replies)
  • In-depth qualitative interviews
  • Final analysis and syntheses leading to
  • policy-focused conclusions

collaboration with NICPB (National Institute of
Chemical Physics and Biophysics) in Tallinn and
HIP (Helsinki Institute of Physics) in Helsinki
  • The Grid marks the IT system that can coordinate
resources that are not subject to a centralized
    control using standard, open, general-purpose
    protocols and interfaces deliver nontrivial
    qualities of service
  • Using Estonian and Finnish electronic ID-cards
(SmartCard) on the Grid, medical and
environmental calculations on the Grid, particle
    physics calculations and genetic information
    analyse, etc.

11
Grid Technology Project
  • Objective The first objective is to strengthen
and intensify the collaboration in Grid
    technology between the scientific and
    technological institutions in Helsinki and
    Tallinn
  • Building up and test a small Grid system between
NICPB and HIP and share the experiences and
needed know-how to the other institutions and the
    bigger Grid systems
  • united Grid seminars and lectures at the

    contributing towards commercialization of
    inventions in different economic environments
  • Developing a model of business capabilities
contributing positively to commercialization of a
    high-tech innovation The primary research
    questions are
  • What are the business capabilities, which
inventors and small entrepreneurs have used in
    successfully commercializing their inventions
    internationally by means of licensing?
  • Are there any differences in the business
    capabilities used in commercializing an
innovation in established market economies and in
    transition economies?
