Background

• The basics of the projects were developed after
  consultations at the Department of Asylum and
  Migration Policy in the Ministry of Interior CR.
• The project was developed within the framework of
  European Community in the program EQUAL -
  "Assistance to the asylum seekers in the access
  to the labor market".

Main Goal

• To find and verify components that will assist in
  the asylum applicants to integrate into
• Our society
• To enable them return to their home country

Society integration

• Long asylum procedure offers asylum seekers space
  for
• - further education (mainly language)
  - socio-cultural knowledge development
  - job
  search

Language education

• Started 10/2006, ended 6/2007
• New education materials has been developed
• Two types of study materials/classes
• for students using Cyrillic alphabet
• for students with Roman characteristic knowledge
• 3 Levels of knowledge
• 56 Students received certificates
• Courses will continue 9/2007

Socio-cultural skills

• For asylum seekers with basic knowledge of Czech
  language
• The aim is to orientate better in the Czech
  socio-cultural environment
• Master practical communication skills, overview
  about social, political and education system in
  the CR
• To practice situations from every days life

• For asylum seekers with basics skills of Czech
  language
• Projects has its database of potencial employers
  (etc. Broweries, Car factories, Glass works)
  about 18 companies (5 very active)
• Approx. 5 job interviews per month
• 7 Asylum seekers successfully employed
• In general Asylum seekers are not very
  interested to work legally

Repatriation

• Approx. 80 of Asylum requests per year are
  denied
• Human Step can methodologically assist Asylum
  seekers with the repatriation
• On request can also provide overall assistance in
  returning to the home countries, if necessary
