Title: Work package n.2

1
  • Work package n.2
  • Energy baseline assessment and target setting

Kick-off meeting MUSEC Modena, 12.01.2007
2
Objectives of WP n.2
  • Carry out an energy baseline assesment for each
    community
  • Define the potential for energy efficiency and
    renewable energy sources
  • Set individual targets
  • Monitor the results

3
Outcome of WP n.2
  • Methodologies and tools for baseline assessment,
    potential definition and monitoring
  • Definition of SEC objectives and targets, based
on the baseline assessment and the potential
definition, in close collaboration with local
    stakeholders

4
Activities of WP n.2
  • Define the assessment methodology
  • Assess the energy baseline for each community
  • Identify local stakeholders and partnerships
  • Identify potentials for improving current energy
    efficiency standards and renewable energy
    generation capacity
  • Set targets
  • Define the monitoring methodology and indicators

5
Timing of WP n.2
6
Discussion items for WP n.2
  • Definition of common methodologies for
  • assessing the energy baseline
  • defining the targets
  • monitoring
  • A proposal will be prepared by Ambiente Italia
  • Adaptations will be allowed case by case at
    national level
  • General rules should be guaranteed

7
Discussion items for WP n.2
  • Example definition of the energy baseline
    assessment methodology
  • Total energy consumption is the result of
    different activity sectors (e.g. residential,
    commercial, industrial, transportation, etc.). It
is very useful, especially in order to give a
particular direction to local actions, to analyse
the contribution of the energy consumption to
    this sectorial disaggregation.
  • A further disaggregation with reference to the
    energy vectors (electricity, gas, district
heating, coal, oil, etc) is a useful information
    to drive local actions.
  • The analysis of the variations over time (with
reference to a baseyear) is important to
understand the trends of energy consumption
