1. SUMMARY

• ASPIRE will develop a replicable model, through
  the drafting and adoption of Sustainable Energy
  Action Plans (SEAPs), to create Sustainable
  Energy Communities (SECs) in peripheral areas of
  EU.

3. AIMS OBJECTIVES

• ASPIRE aims to demonstrate the role of energy
  in the economic and social development of
  communities
• It will tackle many existing barriers,
  including..

• Lack of awareness and understanding amongst EU
  citizens key target groups (planners,
  developers, architects, politicians policy
  makers)
• Knowledge of financing structures schemes
  that support the creation of local energy
  services in low-density communities.

• Sustainable Energy Planning establishing
  Stakeholder Steering Boards initial baseline
  reviews
• Capacity building Community Awareness
  informing and educating key target groups
  public of the social and economic roles energy
  plays within society

• Sustainable Energy Action Plans Drafting of
  SEAPs and consultation with citizens and key
  stakeholders, formal adoption of SEAP in each
  SEC at local authority level.
• ASPIRE Tool-Kit for dissemination
  replication.

• Communication dissemination local regional
  awareness through media campaigns, exhibitions,
  promotion of local exemplar projects, open
  days, public debates.
• European dissemination via website, networks,
  events and publications.

• ASPIRE will create 6 Sustainable Energy
  Communities, by developing a model that can be
  replicated by other peripheral communities
• It will also begin the process of Sustainable
  Energy action planning in 4 further level 3
  communities.

• ASPIRE will create a dialogue between a wide
  range of stakeholders at local, regional and EU
  level in each ASPIRE community
• ASPIRE will promote Energy citizenship within
  the local population

• ASPIRE will ensure transnational transfer of
  knowledge of the issues faced by communities that
  are peripheral to national energy networks, and
  of the solutions that exist to increase both
  their energy and economic sustainability.
