  • Decide what to talk about. Select a subject of
    interest to you and your audience. Be sure the
    subject is not too broad.
  • Determine your presentations mission inspire,
    entertain, persuade, or inform.

  • Opening
  • 1. A surprising question or a challenging
    statement.
  • 2. An appropriate quotation, illustration, or
    story.
  • 3. A display of some appropriate object or
    picture.
  • Avoid
  • 1. An apologetic statement.
  • 2. A story or joke that does not relate to your
    topic.
  • 3. A commonplace observation delivered in a
    commonplace manner.
  • 4. A long or slow-moving statement or story.
  • 5. A trite question, such as Did you ever stop

    amount of time available to you and how much your
    audience can remember.
  • Write down all the ideas related to your topic.
    Then decide the top three main points. Develop
    several sentences for each point and then maybe
    provide a short story, stats, or an authority for
    illustration.
