Model Principles (Minkoff, 1998, 2000)
  • 1. Dual diagnosis is an expectation, not an
    exception.
  • Empathic relationships integration and
    coordination yields treatment success
  • Assign services using the four quadrant model
high and low severity of the psychiatric and
    substance disorder
  • Balance help and challenge
  • Integrated dual primary treatment of both
    disorders
  • Match treatment to phase of recovery and stage of
    change
