an action is repeated or usual.

8 am.She always forgets her purse.
13
  • USE 2 Facts or Generalizations
  • The Simple Present can also indicate the speaker
believes that a fact was true before, is true
now, and will be true in the future.

Cats like milk.California is in America.New
York is a big city.
14
  • USE 3 Scheduled Events in the Near Future
  • Speakers occasionally use Simple Present to talk
about scheduled events in the near future.

starts at 8 o'clock. When does class begin
tomorrow?

  • Magazines
  • Many magazines are of general interest. Some of
them are aimed at women, men or young people,
while others cover a hobby or leisure activity.
Other magazines are for specialists in a
    particular field. Most magazines contain
articles, color pictures, reviews and stories
which establish the identity of the magazine.
They also carry advertisements. Some have a page
of readers letters commenting on articles in
previous issues or asking for advice. Magazines
can be bought at bookshops, bookstalls and
newsstands. But it is often cheaper to take out a
subscription to a magazine and to have it sent by
mail. Many people do not buy magazines, but read
back copies (old issues) put out in their
doctors or dentists waiting rooms or at the
    hairdressers.
