Lab Updates 5/20/08

• General Stuff
• I sent a new science database website to your
  school email account- please try it!
• Gas collection lab
• When you are ready for your unknown- please see
  me- I need to fetch it from the back room
• Indicator Lab
• Set up at labs 15 and 16
• YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN ACID!!! You will use
  the equation M1V1M2V2
• Antacid Lab
• Doses
• Mylanta2 teaspoons (10 ml) (note the amounts of
  base on the package are for 1 teaspoon- you will
  have to double them for a dose)
• Tums 2 tablets (also the amounts on the package
  are for 1 tablet- so you have to double them)
• Alka seltzer 2 tablets (once again- amounts are
  give for 1 tablet)
• Milk of magnesia 1 tablespoon (15 ml) these
  amounts are correct
• If phenophalenine does not work- You might try
  BTB (bromethymal blue)
• YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN ACID!!! You will use
  the equation M1V1M2V2 (You need to decide how
  much acid you want to make- it takes a very small
  amount of 12 M acid to make any amount of .1 M
  acid)
