WEEKLY HOMEWORK PACKETS
  • Students will be responsible for completing and
turning in weekly homework packets. The packets
will include practice pages on weekly spelling
words, math and reading skills, and other
    essential topics of current study.
  • These packets will be sent home on Mondays and
are required to be turned in on the following
    Friday.
  • It is my hope that by assigning such homework,
    students will
  • develop responsibility in completing their work
    in
  • a timely fashion. Students will learn how to
    budget
  • their time at home among personal, family,
  • and school obligations.
  • I ask that parents assist by
  • supporting and encouraging their child
  • throughout the completion of homework.

SUPPORTING A COMMUNITY OF READERS
  • A.R. BOOKS Advanced Readers
  • These books are available at our school
  • library. Students check out the books and take
  • computerized comprehension tests to earn points.
    I will
  • periodically use the earned points towards extra
credit in reading. In addition to this, an A.R.
store will be set up at the end of the year and
students will have the opportunity to use their
    points to buy prizes.
  • BOOK-IT
  • BOOK-IT is a national reading activity that is
available to students in grades K-4. Teachers
set up their reading goals and students read AT
HOME and record their results. Through the
months of October March, students who complete
their classroom reading requirement will receive
a FREE Pizza Hut personal pan pizza coupon.
Students reaching their reading goals for all 6
months of the program will be recognized at the
    end of the school year.
  • SECOND GRADERS WILL READ 15 BOOKS PER MONTH TO
    REACH THEIR GOAL!
  • BOOK CLUB ORDERS
  • From time to time, students and parents will have
the opportunity to purchase books through book
clubs. I will periodically send home order forms
and those interested may place orders.

5
CLASS RULES EXPECTATIONS
  • Second grade students are required to adhere to
the following classroom rules and expectations
  • Raise your hand to speak
  • Be respectful to yourself and to others
  • Take care of personal and school property

  • Always be your best!
  • THE MARBLE JAR A REWARD SYSTEM
  • I will keep a jar on my desk and each time the
class exhibits exemplary behavior, a marble will
be added to the jar. When 50 marbles have been
added to the jar, the students will receive an
award such as a popcorn, pizza, or ice cream
    party.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for students to
    learn the value of teamwork!

6
CLASS DISCIPLINE PLAN
  • It is essential that ALL students have the
opportunity to learn in a safe and productive
environment that is free from unnecessary
    distraction and negativity.
  • It is my goal to consistently provide this
    environment for my students.
  • Students who do not following the classroom rules
and expectations will be subject to the following
    consequences
  • Verbal warning and reminder of class rule
  • Student/Teacher conference and 10 minute time out
  • Student/Teacher conference, communication home,
    and loss of recess
  • Student/Teacher conference, removal from
    classroom, and communication home

  • I will be fair in all discipline situations.
Depending upon the infraction, students will be
handled in the most appropriate manner.

  • If you are having a party outside of school, you
may send invitations to school if ALL students in
the class are invited. However, if you choose to
invite only a few of your childs friends, please
deliver invitations sometime other than during
    the school day.
  • If you are planning to send birthday treats to
    school, please let me know!
  • In celebration of your students special day,
consider donating a favorite book to the class in
honor of your child. Your child can proudly
share the book with their classmates. ?
  • If your childs birthday is during a non school
    month, we can still celebrate!
