A Note From The Secretary General

• Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic
  simulation of the United Nations that aims to
  educate participants about civics, effective
  communication, globalization and multilateral
  diplomacy. In MUN, students research a country,
  take on the roles of foreign diplomats,
  investigate international issues, debate,
  deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions
  to world problems.Or so says Wikipedia.
  However, MUN is much more than that. It is about
  answering the questions that everyone else asks.
  It is about coming up with solutions while
  everyone else worries about the problem. Most
  importantly, it is about being the change you
  want to see.
• At Nanyang Technological University (NTU), we are
  committed towards ensuring an experience you will
  never forget, with a MUN that is bigger and
  better than its previous editions. Participants
  from across the world will spend three days at
  the luxurious Nanyang Executive Centre. Issues
  being deliberated at the Councils will range from
  terrorism to immigration to patent rights.

A Note From The Press Director

• This is a shout-out to all those who believe in
  the adage, The pen is mightier than the sword.
  NTU MUN 2009 will yet again have its own form of
  Al Jazeera, Fox and BBC to report on the
  discussions and debates held while the five
  councils are in session. The three news agencies
  will comprise of a select group of students from
  Singapore and beyond, who have experience and
  aptitude in writing, photography, onsite
  video-making/editing and layout. Each agency is
  required to publish daily newsletters and video
  reports highlighting the proceedings in each
  council.
• Whether you have never done Model UN before but
  love writing or are a veteran of conferences
  looking for a new type of experience, by all
  means take the time to fill out the 3-Steps
  application form and send me a sample of your
  writing. I can promise you that the 3-day event
  will definitely be enriching, engaging and
  entertaining! Promising learning opportunities,
  extensive networking sessions, exciting social
  events and close-to-venue accommodations lay
  waiting for all participants.
