Helping students succeed means to help them see
when they do wrong.

We need to model honesty.

• Some of our students are in difficult situations.
• If we knowingly pass along dishonest work, we are
  setting a bad example for students who need
  positive behavior modeled for them.

We need to model the right kind of consequences.

• Some of our students are in situations that come
  from experiencing the worst kind of consequences
  coming from poor choices whether the choices
  being their own or those of others.
• We need to show students that consequences, even
  when given because of a poor choice, can be given
  in a loving and nurturing manner.

How do we do this?

Know what to do

• Have a policy
• Most times kids cheat because they panic.
• Are you going to let them redo the assignment?
• Some schools wont let them.
• If you let them redo the assignment, will there
  be stipulations?
• Contact Amy so she can write a letter.
• Dont feel guilty or stubborn.

and why you do it.

• Kids want to learn to do the right thing.
• Consider one question Do you want kids to
  learn? Or do you want them to learn a lesson?
• Know you make a difference.
