11Possible phases of establishing a service
responsible for border guarding
- Assigning a service responsible for border
security either the Police or the Border Guards,
not the Army! - To Replace the in the beginning- insufficient
number of staff and technique the military forces
can patrol along the green borders, guard marine
borders and secure provision and maintenance
under the command of the Border Guards. - Retraining the staff of the army as border guards
or their replacement by border guard officers. - The continuous development of the special legal
background related to border security and
technical equipment. - To operate separate commissioned law enforcement
organization cooperating with the Police and the
Customs and Finance Guard.

Hungary will possess the longest external border
compared to the number of its citizens. Hungary
will possess the second longest external EU
border among the EU member states. Hungary will
possess the longest border with non-EU member
states.
