Dorothy

• Dorothy is a young girl in grey, boring Kansas,
  living with her dog Toto, her Aunt Em and Uncle
  Henry. But she gets in trouble when a deadly
  twister comes through her area. Her house is
  lifted up and she and Toto are now in The Land of
  the Munchkins. Dorothys house landed on the
  Wicked Witch of the East, so the Munchkins
  considered her a hero. Dorothy is very sweet
  and polite to all people. She is very aware of
  her surroundings. She is going to Oz to get back
  to Kansas.

Toto

• Toto is a small black dog that keeps Dorothy from
  going grey like all of Kansas. Dorothy almost
  lost him in the twister that came through. He
  almost jumped out of Dorothys small house.
  Thankfully, Dorothy grabbed him quickly.

Scarecrow

• This is the first friend Dorothy found. He was
  lying on a pole, dressed in a worn suit, and
  shoes with blue tops. He winked slowly at
  Dorothy, then said, in a husky voice, Good Day.
  The Scarecrow is most afraid of a lighted match.
  He then told the story of his life. The
  Scarecrow is never hungry nor tired. The farmer
  that made him made the ears first, then the blue
  eyes, then the nose, then the mouth, then the
  body, arms, legs, and finally the head. He is
  going to Oz to get brains.

Tin Woodman

• The Tin Woodman was found by Dorothy when she
  heard a groan. He then told the story of his
  life. At first, he was human. He had a heart
  and loved a Munchkin lady, but the mother of her
  went to the Wicked Witch of the East and told her
  to stop the marriage of the two. Being a
  woodman, he used an ax. So the Magical Ax cut
  off all of his body parts, and he went to a tin
  man to replace everything with tin. Now the Tin
  Woodman is tin. Dorothy and The Scarecrow oiled
  him with an oiling can, and he could move again.
  The Tin Woodman is going to Oz to get a heart to
  love again.

Cowardly Lion

• Dorothy meets the lion by him roaring very loudly
  to scare him off. He almost bit Toto, but
  Dorothy slapped him on his nose to scare him off.
  The Cowardly Lion is very cowardly. He goes
  with the characters to Oz to get courage. Oz
  actually gives a special brew called courage.

Oz

• At the beginning of the novel, the characters
  believed that Oz was a powerful wizard. But, as
  it turns out, Oz is just a human, a
  ventriloquist, actually. The characters found
  out what he was because Toto jumped at a curtain
  and they found Oz. Oz left Emerald City and went
  to go home in a balloon. The Scarecrow became
  the new ruler of Emerald City.

Destination

• The destination of this novel is to get to
  Emerald City so each of the characters can get
  their individual wishes.

Purpose of Journey

• The purpose of the journey is this novel is for
  each of the characters to get their wishes
  granted from Oz.

Setting

• The setting of this novel is in forest and
  countryside. The characters are in the Land of
  the Munchkins, trying to get to Emerald City.
  The Land of the Munchkins is separated into four
  lands the North, South, East, and West.
  Surrounding the land is a desert, that no one has
  ever crossed.

Conflicts

• (External and Internal)
• An external conflict of this novel could be when
  the characters were being captured by the Winged
  Monkeys. An internal conflict of this novel
  could be that the Scarecrow didnt think he was
  smart without a brain in his head.
