The challenge for SSCs
  • Reduce skills gaps and shortages and increase the
    speed of development and transition by sectors 
  • Develop specific actions that lead to improved
    productivity, business and public services
    performance 
  • Take action leading to the development of the
    whole sectors workforce  
  • Influence action that leads to improvement in
    learning supply

How we do this
  • Working with employers
  • Central focus for labour market intelligence for
    the food and drink manufacturing industry 
  • We identify skills shortages and gaps and
    establish nationwide and sector specific
    programmes to fill them
  • Development of relevant occupational standards to
    ensure qualifications are measured and reflect
    current and future skills needs
  • Monitoring and assisting training supply
  • Promote the whole of the industry to prospective
    employees of all ages as the career of choice

    thereafter
