3The challenge for SSCs
- Reduce skills gaps and shortages and increase the
speed of development and transition by sectors - Develop specific actions that lead to improved
productivity, business and public services
performance - Take action leading to the development of the
whole sectors workforce - Influence action that leads to improvement in
learning supply
4How we do this
- Working with employers
- Central focus for labour market intelligence for
the food and drink manufacturing industry - We identify skills shortages and gaps and
establish nationwide and sector specific
programmes to fill them - Development of relevant occupational standards to
ensure qualifications are measured and reflect
current and future skills needs - Monitoring and assisting training supply
- Promote the whole of the industry to prospective
employees of all ages as the career of choice

large groups of employees - Can quick view individual passports to view
attainment of potential employees - My Goals function to manage own development

- Card costs 10.00 per person per year
- 200 to become a verifier in first year, 100
thereafter

- Working with learning providers to record
achievements of students - Working with JobCentre Plus to ensure that people
being targetted at our industry hold a minimum

emerging Skills Academy
