Background

• Ezekiel is preaching in the middle of the
  Babylonian captivity (12 81 201 241)
• Judah is being punished for their long history of
  rebellion and idolatry (23 etc.)
• God will stop his judgment if Judah will repent
• God is looking for a leader to turn Judahs
  desperate situation around

I Sought

• God is searching diligently
  (Isa. 5916 635 Jer. 51 Mic. 72)
• God is searching for the erring sinner who will
  come to Christ (Mt. 1130)
• God is searching for the erring saint who will
  return to Christ (Rev. 320 2216)
• God is searching for the Christian who will take
  a stand (Jude 3)

• God is searching for one who is mature and strong
• Where are the mature today (1 Cor. 1613)?
• Where are the strong today (Eph. 610)?
• The influence of just one man can be enormous,
  like Aaron (Num. 1646-50), Phinehas (Num.
  256-13 Psa. 10628-31) or David (2 Sam.
  2421-25)
• In the home
• In the community
• In the local church

I Sought For A ManThat Should Stand in the Gap

• God is searching for a man to take a stand
• There is a gap in the wall
• The wall (moral fiber) of Judah was broken down
  by sin, lack of truth (135,10-11,14-15)
• God is preparing to come through the gap in his
  wrath
• God wishes the gap to be filled
• A man is needed to fill the gap

• There is work to be done
• Build up the wall (Ac. 2032)
• Stand in the gap (Eph. 614 Phil. 127
  2 Thess. 215)
• Like Moses (Psa. 10623) Isaiah (5812)

• God searched in vain
• In Judah?
• In our nation?
• In the world today?
• In the Lords church?
• Real, thorough reform and leadership is unpopular
  and scarce

• God found that man in Christ
• Jesus came as a man (Gal. 44-5)
• Jesus stood in the gap (Eph. 215-16)
• Will God find that man in you?
• Sinner, will you be converted tonight?
• Saint, will you have commitment tonight?
• Preacher, elder, parent, will you be take a stand
  tonight?
