  • 2003
  • The Lehigh County ASD Task Force grew out of a
    need for parents of children with autism to meet
    and have open dialogue about issues they were
    facing.  With the help of the county, the Autism
    Task Force was formed.

  • A Reinvestment Committee was formed to shape and
    spearheade the Hub vision.

  • November 2006
  • County staff, in conjunction with parents,
    providers and the Bureau of Autism Affairs
    decided to secure a provider to write a
    reinvestment plan to develop what was formally
    known as the HUB.
  • The HUB would be a one-stop shopping model that
    would provide services, resources, materials,
    information to children on the Autism Spectrum
    and their families.
  • The plan needed to keep the vision intact, be
    financially sustainable and be approved by both
    OMHSAS and the Bureau of Autism Affairs.

  • February 2007
  • Developed and distributed a Request for Proposal
    (RFP) to secure a provider to write the
    reinvestment plan and eventually become the
    operator of the HUB.
  • March 2007
  • Held a bidders session for providers interested
    in submitting a proposal.

  • Proposals due back to County
  • County convened a committee of county staff and
    parents to review the proposals
  • Reviewed proposals and select group to interview
  • Elwyn was selected to write the reinvestment plan

ARCH of Lehigh Valley Reinvestment Plan
  • The ARCH of Lehigh Valley will serve Lehigh
    County MA eligible individuals diagnosed with an
    Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.
  • Initially services will be provided to an
    estimated 200 children and their families. Adult
    services will be developed in subsequent years.
  • These services will take place in an inviting and
    user-friendly service center, through a network
    of providers who are trained in Autism Spectrum
    Disorders (ASD).

  • The Mission is to provide a safe, therapeutic and
    educational environment for people with autism
    regardless of age or ability and their
    families.
  • Accomplished by offering a range of clinical and
    community supports, resources and educational
    materials and training.

  • This "one-stop shopping" model integrates
    clinical and non-clinical approaches and training
  • The ARCH of Lehigh Valley will work in
    collaboration with individuals on the spectrum,
    families, county representatives, providers,
    experts in the field and other stakeholders to
    coordinate a continuum of services

ARCH of Lehigh Valley Services
  • Satellite Outpatient Clinic - range of services
    including individual, group, and family
    therapies, evaluations, assessment and
    psychiatry. A specific focus of the clinic will
    be offering extended groups similar to an
    intensive outpatient model.
  • Diagnosis and Evaluation- designed to reduce wait
    time for diagnosis, improve access to services,
    be the springboard for an outcome based
    integrated treatment plan and to be designed
    around current thinking on best practices.

ARCH of Lehigh Valley Services
  • Case Management - Blended case management with an
    ASD specialty to assist in access, linkage and
    coordination of services. A multi-disciplinary
    approach where all voices (across all
    stakeholders) are heard and informed decisions
    are made based on these shared goals and needs of
    the identified individuals.
  • After School Program - Based on ASD informed
    services, evidence based, best practices and
    promising practices.
  • Summer Program - summer therapeutic activities
    program.

ARCH of Lehigh Valley Training
  • In concert with the Bureau of Autism and other
    experts, develop an ASD specific training
    curriculum for professionals, therapeutic staff
    and parents across a variety of treatment
    modalities.
  • A concerted effort will be made to coordinate and
    standardize training in coordination with the
    training curriculum that the Bureau of Autism has
    begun to establish.

ARCH of Lehigh Valley Space
  • The site that will be operational 6 days a week.
    Hours to be determined.
  • There will be multiple rooms including but not
    limited to outdoor space, community rooms,
    treatment rooms, offices, sensory rooms, and
    resource rooms.
  • Intend to offer space to other providers (OT, PT,
    speech) who may want to deliver services at the
    ARCH of Lehigh Valley. Community members and
    providers will be able to use open space.
