Carousel Brainstorming/Gallery Walk
This strategy enables students to simultaneously
share ideas and respond in writing to 3 or 4
different prompts.

• Design 4 or 5 questions, headings or statements
  that could have multiple responses
• Write each topic on a separate sheet of chart
  paper then place each sheet in a separate corner
  of the room.
• Form groups of 4 or 5 students and give each
  group a different color of marker.
• Direct students to a specific area and have them
  take several minutes to think about the prompt
  and then list as many ideas as possible.
• Direct students to rotate to the next station to
  read what has been previously written and then
  brainstorm to add NEW information (in a
  different color) do not repeat ideas.
• After all groups have rotated through once,
  students rotate again in a Gallery Walk where
  they each take note of the 3 most important ideas
  on each chart.
• At the conclusion of the Gallery Walk, students
  write a paragraph addressing each issue.
