2Who are we?
- The Forum is an independent organisation
devoted to smart media activities and the public
sector. - We are a sponsored organisation.
- We are not a platform for sales or political
lobbying. - Launched in May 2001 by Founder Bracknell Forest
Borough Council and BT.
3Our Mission
- To be an active Membership Forum which shares
information, experiences and ideas in a
structured and focused environment. - To bring awareness and best practice to public
sector smart media schemes through involvement of
subject experts and supplier innovation. - Managed by the Public Sector for the Public
Sector
4How we are structured?
- The Forum has two main categories of membership
- Full membership (public sector), currently free
- Sponsor membership
- The Forum is managed by an elected Core Group
- The activities of the Forum are bound by a
legally approved Constitution agreed by Members

- 18 Events delivered Bracknell (twice),
Barbican, Milton Keynes, Doncaster, Maidenhead,
BT Centre, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Coventry, Bolton,
Cambridge, Southampton, Westminster, Sheffield,
Lords, Wolverhampton, Cambridge and University
of London - Next Events
- 23rd September 2008, AIDC, Halifax,
- 6-7th November 2008, joint event with Inform,
Bristol - Also Supporting Transport SmartCard Event 10th
September London and Prepaid Commerce Europe,
Stockholm in December

- Continue to deliver events free to public sector
- Balance at year end 2007 9298
- Bracknell Forest BC removed webmaster support
- Projected cash flow not sufficient to support
paid webmaster and co-ordinator - Reduce costs to ensure sustainability by
- Ending of paid co-ordinator and webmaster roles
- Contract services as required
- Distribution of tasks across Core Group
- Co-sponsorship of events making them
self-funding
8Development agenda 2008/9
- Continue focus around transport payment
implementations - Explore implications for leisure of free swimming
for over-60s - Engage with trade associations such as coach
operators possibly through new corporate
membership - Maintain positive bank balance!
